Most prestigious Gift of the life is Education, and we are being cheated and harassed to achieve it.
Is it worth to invest a 70% share over school expenses from the earnings of a common man in India , which we know well is 100% that it is not justified as except of a self-generated and impose of a unwanted expenses done by parents of a so called good school. Reality of India itself is a developing country, Now days parents put more emphasis on educating their bundle of joy in India .They want to enroll their child in renowned school for this they don't mind whether school is private or unaided .After going through all tedious and unwanted process of admission they feel relaxed when their child admitted in these schools. After some time they realize this is their nightmare because of school fee hike and other school expenses .To fulfill the requirement of these schools, mothers also start working, but all these effort are not just enough to fulfill their dreams.
The mounting cost of education in recent years has eaten into a major part of the household budget. An Assocham survey showed that 65% of parents spend more than half their take-home pay on their children's education, extra co-curricular activities placing significant burden on their family budget. According to the survey, parents spending on a single child's education has gone up from Rs 35,000 in 2005 to over Rs 94,000 in 2011 on such items and activities as integral to the school curriculum like fees, transport books, uniform, stationery, building fund, educational trips, extra tuitions and extra-curricular activities. The survey highlights that the rising cost of education, has become a major cause of worry for parents. Majority of parents spend on average more than Rs 18 lakh-20lakh in raising a child by the time their teen graduates from high school.
According to government data, average private expenditure on secondary education in private schools is as high as Rs 893 per month as compared to only Rs 275 per month in government schools primarily due to difference in high tuition fees in private institutions.
A large No. of complaints and protests against the issues have come in action but finally we accept the humiliation, because this is human nature and busy schedule in current scenario that no one has time to make it and enforced issue to be taken up to an end result up to the level of relief. Except all this we again enforce ourselves to achieve more income to fulfil the humiliating demands of Schools not in terms of improvement in education or innovative ideas but only for show off the luxury for nothing but for the competition and to attract the students mob of great parents who they want to show-off in society and to cool down their ego to be great parents of a wealthy school’s students father or mother.
A news in Times of India (curt. From)
• Parents' protest forces school to revise fee hike
• NOIDA: Even as some city-based schools plan to hike tuition fees for the academic session which begins next month, parents on Tuesday staged a protest against a steep fee hike by a private school and demanded immediate rollback.
• Some 60 parents gathered in front of the Raghav Global School in Noida's Sector 122 in the morning and shouted slogans against the school management for imposing a 100% hike in tuition fees without consulting them.
• "My child studies in this school. The school has made a 100% increase in tuition fee without any consultation with parents. This is unreasonable," said Sunder Sharma, a parent.
• The protest forced the school management to reconsider its stand on fee hike. "The issue has been resolved now. We have increased only 10% tuition fee for the time being and it is applicable from April," an official of the Raghav Global School told TOI, on condition of anonymity.
• Some other city-based private schools said they will follow the 10% cap imposed by the government, while others said they are still reviewing their tuition fee for the next session.
• Madhu Chandra, the principal of Lotus Valley International School, said that the annual increase in tuition fee would be done as per government norms. She said the hike will be directly proportional to the increase in dearness allowance (DA) given to the large number of teaching and non-teaching staff. "The fee will be increased up to 10% in the coming academic session. The hike is also important to maintain quality teaching and infrastructure provided to students," Chandra said.
• Asha Prabhakar, the principal of Bal Bharti Public School, said that the school management is yet to decide on the revision of fee. Sumita Malik, the pre-primary head of Shiv Nadar School, also said that the school foundation decides on the annual fee increment and a meeting on the issue is awaited. Steep hikes in school fees have been contested many times earlier and evoked sharp reactions. Last year, the district parents' association had approached the administration, seeking its intervention in fee hikes.
