British High Commissioner Alex Ellis Friday appreciated the efforts of Uttar Pradesh government in handling of the pandemic.
He also appreciated the efforts of the state government in promoting girl child education, self-reliance and empowerment of women, according to a statement issued by the UP government.

The UK High Commissioner to India, Mr. Alex Ellis, has congratulated Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji for being elected as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for the second consecutive time on behalf of the British Government. He has also expressed his desire to meet the Chief Minister.
The UK High Commissioner to India mentioned in the letter that the United Kingdom wants to be a major international partner for Uttar Pradesh, as per the 10-year road map of mutual relations between the Prime Ministers of India and the United Kingdom in 2021. Is. He said that he was committed to work on the discussions held between the Chief Minister and the United Kingdom during their last meeting with regard to increasing trade and investment between Uttar Pradesh and the United Kingdom.
Significant progress has been made on several agenda items since the last meeting. As part of the British Council's new 'Going Global Partnership Exploratory Grants' on education, three UK institutions have entered into a collaboration with Amity University in Noida to help the winners strengthen international education and learning collaboration between universities in the U.P. and the United Kingdom. to help develop strategies.
Mr. Alex Ellis said that through the 'Learn English with Friends' digital learning resources provided by the British Council, students from 750 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas have learned contemporary vocabulary and used simple dialogues and phrases to develop their ability in conversational English. Have practiced it instantly by using it.
Mr. Ellis said that Mr. Ellen Gemmell, UK Government's Trade Commissioner for South Asia, and UK's Deputy High Commissioner to India, Ms. Jan Thompson, would be coming to Lucknow shortly for introductory meetings with the members of the new Cabinet of the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
Several British companies have already invested in Uttar Pradesh, including Wable and Scott. The plant of this company has been established in Hardoi and 55 people have got jobs in it. The company is planning to set up a new manufacturing facility in the next 12 months, through which 150 people will get employment. Other British companies investing in Uttar Pradesh include Trinity Natural Gas, Hindustan Unilever, Associated British Foods.
The British High Commissioner has also mentioned in the letter that they welcome the recently started Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut. Through this the opportunity for further cooperation in sports can be seen. This may include sharing the UK's expertise in the mechanisms and structures to deliver the best sporting success.
In relation to security and police modernization, the UK High Commissioner said that after the 'Uttar Pradesh-United Industry Police Modernization Symposium' in September 2021, further work can be done in this regard, so that modern evidence collection, forensic and cyber security including Uttar Pradesh can be helped in developing capacity.
Mr. Alex Ellis said he also wanted to highlight the power of the research relationship between the UK and Uttar Pradesh. UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) has funded more than £4.3 million in various institutions in Uttar Pradesh, including Banaras Hindu University, over the past 12 years. The London School of Economics is collaborating with IIT Kanpur on the Digital Entrepreneurship Ecosystem to drive mutual economic growth and prosperity.
At the end of his letter, the UK High Commissioner, Mr. Alex Ellis has conveyed his best wishes to the Chief Minister and the people of Uttar Pradesh for the next five years.
